Until now I've only triggered Veronica's companion quest. I'd like to see the other now, so I'm curious about the exact trigger for initiating the companion quests.
Do I only have to have them with me for a while or is there something else to do?

So, this varies wildly by companion, but I'll try to run down all of them.
Ed-E
Quest: Ed-E My Love
Trigger: Recruit Ed-E, then speak to Johnson Nash in Primm, either in his shop (after installing a new Sheriff), or at the Vicki and Vance (when you first arrive in town).
Reward: If you send Ed-E to the Brotherhood of Steel, he'll receive an upgrade to his armor (+8DT), if you send him to the Followers, they'll a-charge up his lazors (~+50% damage, exact amount unconfirmed).
Notes: Ed-E's companion quest require that the robot 'overhear' conversations with certain key NPCs about topics such as the Enclave, Pre-War Technology, etc. There is also an inherent time delay between the triggers - you can not trigger Log 2 until 9 days after Log 1, and you will not hear from Lorenzo or Martimer for 2 days after that.
Rex
Quest: Nothin' But a Hound Dog
Trigger: This quest is acquired as you recruit Rex. Just speak to The King about Rex, then Julie Farkas over at the Old Mormon Fort, and then return to The King with the news that Rex can be healed. Rex is now recruited as a companion, and you'll have this quest, to take him to Jacobstown, in your log.
Reward: If you give Rex Violetta's Brain, he'll receive a speed increase. Rey's Brain increases his attack. Lupa's brain increases his max health.
Notes: You can also use an NCR Guard Dogs brain for this quest, but Rex will gain no additional perk if you do so. Lupas brain is currently bugged - it increases Rexes current health by 100, but not his maximum - once he takes 100 damage, the benefit is gone forever.
Cass
Quest: Heartache By the Numbers
Trigger: Talk to Cass at the Mojave Outpost. That's it. She won't join you, and you won't be able to begin working on this quest in earnest however, until you've completed the first few objectives of You Can Depend On Me, bought out Cassidy Caravans, and actually recruited Cass as a companion.
Reward: If you turn McLafferty and the Van Graffs in to the authorities with evidence, Cass will gain the Calm Heart perk (+50 HP). If you instead kill both, she'll gain the Hand of Vengeance perk (+15% damage with Guns).
Notes: Calm Heart appears to have the same bug as Lupas brain does for Rex - it increases current, rather than maximum health.
Raul
Quests: Crazy, Crazy, Crazy(to Recruit), Old School Ghoul(Unmarked quest to 'upgrade' Raul)
Trigger: To trigger Crazy, Crazy, Crazy, simply go to Black Mountain. Neil will introduce himself and the quest will be added to your log. Once Best Friend Tabitha is dealt with, Raul will be free to join you. Old School Ghoul will never appear in your log. To complete it, you simply need to introduce Raul to Ranger Andy, Corporal Sterling, and Loyal, and talk to Raul about each.
Reward: After completing Old School Ghoul, you can have a conversation with Raul about his role in the world, and his wild 'youth'. If you convince him to return to his gunslinging days, he'll gain the Old Vaquero perk, increasing his attack speed with Revolvers and Lever-Action firearms by 33%. He'll also put on his old Cowboy outfit. If you instead convince him that his mechanical skills are more useful, his Regular Maintenance perk will be upgraded to Full Maintenance - reducing the rate at which equipment decays by 75%. He'll also incorporate some armored padding into his Petro-Chico jumpsuit.
Notes: The triggers for Old School Ghoul can be inconsistent - particularly, if you've ever spoken to Ranger Andy before meeting Raul, the dialog will sometimes not trigger. As of now, the only way known to get around this is to use the console on the PC. See the wiki for full details.
Boone
Quest: I Forgot to Remember to Forget
Trigger: Boone probably has the toughest Companion Quest to trigger. In order to get him to open up to you about what happened at Bitter Springs and begin this quest, you need to gain 5 'trust points' with Boone. The easiest way to gain these points is killing Legion with Boone as a companion. Lots and lots of Legion. Specifically, you can gain:
- 3 points at Camp McCarran. 1 point if, when interrogating the Legion prisoner, he 'accidentally' dies, and another 2 during I Put a Spell on You - 1 for killing the spy, and 1 for defusing the bomb.
- 2 points for rescuing the Powder Ganger hostages to complete the quest Booted
- 2 points for killing everyone at Cottonwood Cove to complete Eye for an Eye
- 1 point for mercy killing the crucified soldiers in Nelson during Back in Your Own Backyard - 2 points for saving them instead.
- 1 point for killing Vulpes Inculta
- 2 points for killing Caesar
As you gain points, speak to Boone regularly (read: every time you gain a point) to have him open up and discuss more of his past. Be sure to speak to either Manny Vargas in Novac or Sergeant Bitter-Root at McCarran about Bitter Springs. Eventually Boone will tell you about Bitter Springs and this quest will go into your log.
Reward: Boones default armor upgrades to 1st Recon Survival or 1st Recon Assault Armor (depending on conversation choices). The difference is purely cosmetic - both offer a DT of 15.
Veronica
Quest:I Could Make You Care
Trigger: As with Boone, Veronicas quest is triggered by the accumulation of 'trust points'. In Veronicas case, these are gained by taking her to a variety of locations in the Wasteland and talking to certain NPCs. You need to have 3 of these conversations to trigger Veronica's Quest:
- At Camp McCarran, you can trigger two of these conversations. One simply by walking into the base for the first time, and another by discussing OSI and it's goals with Dr. Hildern.
- Vault 3 - just before entering for the first time.
- Casa Madrid Apartments - after talking to Anderson about his water operation and beginning the quest The White Wash
- Freeside - speak with Julie Farkas at the Old Mormon Fort, or take her by the Silver Rush to see the Van Graff's stockpile of energy weapons.
- Nellis Air Force Base - at the Boomer Museum, after Pete's 'tour' has concluded.
- REPCONN test site - if Veronica is with you when Jason Bright explains his ghoulie Heaven's Gate mission to fly in to space.
- Nipton and Nelson - just take Veronica to these two towns.
Reward: If you convince Veronica to stay with the Brotherhood, she'll gain the Bonds of Steel perk (+4 DT). If you instead convince her that she's better off leaving to join the Followers, she'll gain the Causeless Rebel perk, which increases her unarmed attack speed by 30%.
Best Unmarked Quests Fallout New Vegas
Notes: There is also an unmarked 'side quest' for Veronica. She wants a dress. More than anything in the world, she just wants a really pretty dress. Give her some Formal Wear (easiest to find at the Ultra-Luxe), and she will be overwhelmed with gratitude - she'll teach you the Scribe Counter, a special attack usable with Unarmed weapons.
Lily
Quests:Guess Who I Saw Today, Unnamed additional 'quest'.
Trigger: For Guess Who I Saw Today, just talk to Doctor Henry about the Nightkin Schizophrenia and his search for a cure. This makes Lily a recruitable companion. In addition, once the Courier has travelled with Lily for a bit, you may begin to hear a recording of her grandchildren. Once you've listened to the whole recording, you can discuss it with Lily.
Reward: After discussing Lily's grandchildren, you can give her advice about how she should continue with her medication. If you recommend she stop taking it, she will gain some permanent stat increases, but she will continue to frenzy and become uncontrollable at half health. If you suggest she continue to take half-doses, she will only frenzy at 25% HP instead of 50%, and will calm down immediately if you sneak. If you suggest she switch to full doses, she will never frenzy, but will suffer some permanent stat penalties.
Arcade
Quest:For Auld Lang Syne
Trigger: As with Boone and Veronica, Arcades quest can be triggered through a point system - however, you can completely skip this process if you are idolized with the Followers of the Apocalypse. To gain points with Arcade:
- Complete side quest That Lucky Old Sun with Arcade, and direct the power from Helios One to Freeside.
- Take Arcade for a visit to the Crashed Vertibird, the REPCONN Test Site, REPCONN Headquarters, the Silver Rush in Freeside, or the Nuclear Test House at the Old Nuclear Test Site.
- Complete side quest The White Wash - framing the Scorpion gang is Arcades preferred outcome, but even if you arrest Anderson, so long as you keep Westside supplied with Water, he'll be happy.
- Finally, you can bypass this whole process and jump right to the end by taking Arcade to The Fort after receiving the Mark of Caesar. When he objects to being taken right to the heart of the Legion, tell him that you're just there to talk, see what Caesar is up to, and get out as quickly as possible.
Additionally, Arcades quest WILL NOT TRIGGER until you have locked yourself in to one of the four end-game paths(excluding Caesar's Legion, which will not trigger the quest). If you have not yet locked yourself in, the dialog necessary to trigger this quest will not appear.
Rewards: Power Armor Training, Remnants Power Armor (arguably the best armor in the game), support from the Remnants in the final battle (If Legion/NCR. If you're running Wild Card or with Mr. House, you may end up fighting them.) With a speech check, you can also get the Gannon Family Tesla Armor.
Notes: After completing this quest, you will permanently lose Arcade as a companion. It is unclear however, whether this loss is intended, or a bug.

Quoting my own current game here:
Rose of Sharon Cassidy (aka Cass), can be found at Mojave Outpost, talk to her and she will give you a quest.
Although she's not even your companion at this stage, this is the start of her companion quest - 'Heartache by the Number' - the first steps of which you have to complete before you unlock Cass as a companion.
For Rex, his (her? its?) quest - 'Nothin' But a Hound Dog' - will again be activated before Rex is a companion, and again the first few steps of the quest are what unlocks Rex as a companion.
So, I doubt there's a general rule here, it will depend on each companion.
Also, for specific information, you could look at the Fallout Wikia section for permanent companions, and look at each companion's page, they contain more details on each companion including their companion quests. I'd look myself and post the answers here - but well, I don't really want to spoil those paths for myself just yet. :)

Despite being released nearly eight years ago, Fallout: New Vegas still has a thriving modding community, with popular mods being updated and new mods being released.
With May 2018 nearly over, we’re almost halfway through the year. Here’s a look at eight mods that keep the Mojave Wasteland a place full of adventure!
Salt Lake Stories
Salt Lake Stories is a mod that has been in development since 2010. Building off of the stories from the Honest Hearts DLC, Salt Lake Stories adds a large world space centered around the Great Salt Lake, with 38 Quests and 50,000+ pieces of dialogue. The mod features some adult content, and is mostly based on files from Van Buren, the unreleased third Fallout game from Black Isle studios, before the franchise came under Bethesda’s wing.
One of the developer’s interesting choices involving the mod was the choice to remove quest markers, as well as blatantly obvious quest direction, forcing players to explore the world to solve their problems, which was something the original Fallout games implemented very well, with things such as the final encounter with The Master in Fallout having multiple non-violent solutions. A second large choice is a removal of larger action sequences. For the most part, Bethesda’s Fallout games take a less nuanced approach to interactions, meaning that more often then not you will end up fighting people to get your way. Fallout: New Vegas does a good job of adding some ways to get around more violent encounters with various skill checks, but Nexus user Yossarian22 has taken it a step further. Although the mod maker is not a native English speaker, and the mod takes some interesting design choices, Salt Lake Stories was one of the top rated mods of Feb. 2018 on the Fallout: Vegas Mod Nexus.

Live DismembermentHave you ever felt like throwing grenades or using a meat cleaver on your enemies should do a little more than just lower their health bar? Then you need Live Dismemberment. This mod, one of the top rated mods for May 2018 on the Fallout: New Vegas Mod Nexus, allows you to dismember your opponents before killing them. This is a concept that appears in Fallout 4 when fighting Feral Ghouls and Robots, when you cripple their limbs, they are removed or visibly destroyed. Live Dismemberment adds distinct effects depending on what limbs are removed. For example, if you manage to cut off or blow off someone’s leg, they would fall to the ground, being forced to crawl.
The developer of Live Dismemberment recommends that anyone who downloads this mod should also consider getting an older mod, BLEED. The mod BLEED, originally released in 2015, but updated most recently in February 2018, completely alters the way damage is dealt by weapons, making them much more life-like in their destructive power. Live Dismemberment is for download here.
The Living Desert
While the Mojave Wasteland is an inhospitable desert full of violent wildlife, murderous raiders, and plenty of other dangers, many people felt the world was too empty when New Vegas released. The Living Desert completely changes that by adding hundreds of NPCs, scripted events, and quest-related events to the game. The entire wasteland feels so much more populated, and the NCR-Legion conflict looms ever closer with the addition of new spawn locations for NCR Troopers and Legionaries, especially at certain locations where their spawns pit them directly into a skirmish.
Not only does this mod flesh out the wasteland with a cast of extra faces, but it also adds many events that are linked to quest outcomes. There are quests now that, if you fail them or resolve them in a way that a certain faction does not like, you will find yourself hunted down by a squad of assassins, determined to put down Courier 6 before they can do any more harm.
Overall, the mod adds incredible depth to the wasteland, and sometimes truly displays the consequences of certain quest outcomes. Doing things for the NCR that directly hurt the Legion can spawn Legion hit squads, or working helping factions regain a foothold in the wasteland can set up checkpoints or prepare ambushes for their enemies. The Living Desert mod is available now on the Fallout: New Vegas Mod Nexus.
Photon Laser Weapon Pack
One of Fallout’s defining features is the idealistic 1950’s vision of the future melded with the post-apocalyptic. In this sci-fi future, energy weapons such as laser rifles and plasma pistols are a powerful commodity. While the Photon Laser Weapons mod may not be the most lore-friendly weapons mod, the weapons added are an absolute delight.
A laser bullpup PDW, a laser bolt action rifle, and a laser pump-action shotgun allow you to take on the dangers of the Mojave with a new, energetic gusto. Blast your way through Legionaries with the powerful shotgun, or pick off enemies with the bolt action rifle, or fight your way through hordes of feral ghouls with the Laser PDW.
If you’re interested in the Photon Laser Weapon Pack, check it out here.
Mojave Wildlife
In a similar vein to The Living Desert, Mojave Wildlife adds many spawns into the world for various animals. With over 100 new spawns for vanilla wildlife based on cut content, the world becomes full of life. A lot of very dangerous, angry life that will attempt to kill you on sight. This, combined with mods like The Living Desert take what many considered to be a scarcely populated region and turn it into something full of humanity and rich, varied wildlife. If only it were that simple; however, because nearly everything in the wasteland will at least attempt to kill you.
Mojave Wildlife also utilizes unused leveled lists from the game, which introduces varying levels of difficulty to what you face depending on the area, rather than your level. It not only has options to change how the spawns work, choosing between the system used in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but also allows you to choose between random spawning events, called Chanced Spawns. These, the mod creator believe, are a reason that the game often feels sparse. Most of the creature spawn locations in the base F:NV game have a chance of spawning a creature, rather than simply spawning them when you arrive in that location. This mod allows you to toggle these spawns, meaning that if something can spawn, it will.
Aside from the ability to filter emails, manage your contacts and calendars and customize your messages, Outlook 2010 also has some other advanced features that you might not have even thought possible. The ability to delay message delivery in Outlook 2010 like this ensures that you can create an email now, but send it at a more appropriate time later. How to Schedule an Email in Outlook 2010Aside from the convenience that this future message sending feature creates, it is also something that you can configure on a per-message basis. For instance, you can use Outlook 2010 to schedule an email to be sent at a certain time in the future. How to check sent mail on outlook. Even the best free email providers do not offer anywhere near the number of features that you will find in Outlook 2010.
Mojave Wildlife is available now, download it here.
GECK Extender
The GECK Extender isn’t a mod for players as much as a mod for other modders. The GECK, known in the Fallout Universe as the Garden of Eden Creation Kit, is software provided by Bethesda that allows modders to have more direct access to the assets in the Fallout games, and makes it much easier for them to develop, test, and fix mods.
The GECK Extender fixes several bugs that appear in the GECK provided for Fallout: New Vegas, as well as enables various functionalities within the system, such as Level 2 LOD generation while building large world spaces.
If you’re a modder, this mod is one to watch, as it is updated to provide more content and fix more issues involving the GECK. You can get your hands on it now on the Fallout: New Vegas Mod Nexus.
Simple Hotkeyed Weapon Scrolling
Sometimes, you encounter a mod with a vague name, something that intrigues you into clicking on it. Simple Hotkeyed Weapon Scrolling is not that kind of mod. This is a basic, single script which adds something into the game that should have been in the game from the beginning.
If you have weapons selected in you favorite sl0ts, which are connected to hotkeys, this mod allows you to simply scroll through them, rapidly changing your weapons much like you can in games like Half-Life 2 or Fortnite.
You can download Simple Hotkeyed Weapon Scrolling now.
Well Rested Overhaul
Similarly to the Simple Hotkeyed Weapon Scrolling mod, the Well Rested Overhaul is something that just makes sense for the game, although it was much more complex to introduce. The mod completely alters the way that the Well Rested buff, a buff you traditionally earn for sleeping in beds you own or have rented. The overhaul changes how long the buff lasts, where it can be applied, and what effects it adds.
Traditionally, the buff always lasts for 12 in-game hours, regardless of how long you rest. On top of this, the buff normally only adds a 10 percent increase to earned experience, which is a great buff until you reach the maximum level and experience has no meaning. This overhaul mod changes all of this. Not only does the buff’s duration depend on how long you’ve slept (at least, up to a solid eight hours), but it also adds bonuses such as a 10% increase to your weapon accuracy, attack speed, and AP regeneration rate. Lastly, the mod takes advantage of the games several sex scenes. Traditionally, the game simply fades to black and advances the clock a few hours. With this overhaul, these now apply the status of sleeping (something very important for Hardcore Players who need to focus on things like Sleep Deprivation and Dehydration), as well as apply well rested for shorter periods due to the shortened periods of the scenes.
You can download the Well Rested Overhaul here.
Are there any mods that you think need to be on here? Alternatively, any mods that you think shouldn’t have been listed? Talk about it in the comments below!
Fallout: New Vegas lives. Years go by but the fourth entry in the post-apocalyptic series retains its unwaning popularity among RPG fans with an appetite for a juicy experience. At the same time, the modding community gathered around Obsidian’s work persists in its efforts to keep the Mojave Desert’s glory alive for as long as possible.
And while the spirit of New Vegas remains strong and timeless, its visual flesh is significantly more likely to suffer at the hands of time. The Gamebryo engine was considered not the most beautiful even at the moment of the game’s release; 5 years later and it can sometimes be as repulsive as a flock of feral ghouls after midnight. As a result, long-time players coming back to the Strip after a break may be discouraged, and newcomers – outright scared away.
To counter that effect, we give you our selection. Here are the mods that will change the way you look at Mojave Wasteland, and allow you to re-appreciate one of the best Fallouts in history without disgust on your face. You will find here instructions how to install each add-on as well as universal tips on how to mod New Vegas from now on. All mods in this selection are compatible with the latest version of the game.
The description “Vanilla” you see on some of the screenshots signifies a basic (unmodified) version of the game.
…but the Wasteland does – and for the better. Installing the mods for Fallout: New Vegas.
In this section you will find a list of applications enabling you to install and manage the mods as well as ensure their proper working.
ATTENTION: Before you modify any game files, the game has to be launched at least once using the default launcher.
Nexus Mod Manager
Fallout New Vegas supports the content available on Nexus Mods website. This means that you can download mods using the Nexus Mod Manager software (later on referred to as NMM).
NMM allows you to automatically install, enable, and disable the mods. Furthermore, the application is clear, easy to use, and offers access to nearly 100% of the resources available on the dedicated nexus.
The nexusmods site dedicated to New Vegaswill inform you during the download procedure whether the modification requires any additional plugins to work properly.
Using the Nexus Mod Manager
1. Download and run the latest Nexus Mod Manager software.
2. Wait until it finishes scanning your drive for games or cancel the scan and choose the game manually.
3. Select the modification in the Mods tab (the mod itself may be placed in an automatically generated subfolder) and click the second button from the top (the green check mark) – this will enable the mod in the game.
ATTENTION: To download files from Nexus Mods you need to have an account there.
Managing your mods
The latest version of NMM provides the options to comfortably manage all of your modifications. By which we mean not only automated installation (enabling and disabling whole mods or selected .esm and .esp files), but also validation of all plugins (archives) and reorganization of the files’ load order.
First of the abovementioned actions becomes handy after having manually installed mods that added new textures. To verify the archives select Tools from the upper menu, then uncheck and recheck the Archive Validation option.
The second action will set the right loading order of the mods, which prevents the game from crashing or malfunctioning of individual modifications. To do it, select Tools once again and simply check the Automatic Plugin Sorting option.
New Vegas Script Extender
New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) is a tool enabling you to unleash the full “scripting potential” that lies dormant in Fallout: New Vegas, ensuring the proper working of mods that would otherwise have to interfere with the game’s .exe file.
As NVSE is used by many modifications that change gameplay mechanics, it would be a good idea to begin your modding with this one.
How to install the New Vegas Script Extender mod
1. Download the New Vegas Script Extender (version 5.0b2).
2. Copy the archive’s contents into the game folder (the one containing FalloutNV.exe)
New Vegas 4GB
New Vegas 4GB (NV4GB) is an add-on enabling the game to access and use up to 4 gigabytes of GPU RAM. Some advanced visual mods require this modifications to work; without it they may cause stuttering, crashes or significant performance drops.
How to install New Vegas 4GB
1. Download New Vegas 4GB.
2. Copy the archive’s contents into the game folder (the one containing FalloutNV.exe)
3. Create a desktop shortcut leading to fnv4gb.exe
4. Open the shortcut properties. Add space after the quotation mark in the “Target” field and add the following line: -SteamAppId 22490 -laaexe .FalloutNV4GB.exe (example: 'C:program files (x86)steamsteamappscommonfallout new vegas enplczrufnv4gb.exe' -SteamAppId 22490 -laaexe .FalloutNV4GB.exe
Drive bar max glitch 3. 5. From now on, launch the game using this shortcut. NVSE will be loaded automatically.
ENB Mods – what are they and how to install them
ENB is a general name encompassing all modifications based on the files created by Boris Vorontsov. The files enable a game to support advanced post-processing features that were partially supported or weren’t supported at all.
Although post-processing in modern games is a rather resource-consuming process and can have a significant impact on performance, Fallout: New Vegas goes rather easy on system resources, allowing even older PCs to handle the following ENB Series mods with little if any problems.
The mods created using Vorontsov’s files will be referred to as presets from now on.
How to install the files enabling you to use ENB presets
1. Download the latest version of ENB Series.
2. Extract the archive. Copy the contents of the WrapperVersion folder into the game folder (the one containing FalloutNV.exe)
3. From now on, copy every new preset into the game folder, overwriting files if asked.
Using the ENB presets
There’s more to be done with ENB than installing the right plugin – when the game is running, you will have access to a powerful editor that allows you to modify every parameter of the currently loaded preset.
To open the editor press the Shift+Enter key combination. You will see a menu on the left (see the screenshot below).
Through the editor you have the ability to manipulate properties of the enbseries.ini config file, which, with some effort on your part, will allow you to fully adjust the plugin to your preference. In other words – your imagination is the limit.
The post-processing applied by a ENB mod can be enabled and disabled with the Shift+F12 key combination.
Weapon Retexture Project – better textures for your arsenal
What’s better than a big gun? A good-looking big gun, obviously. The creator of Weapon Retexture Project knows those words of wisdom well. That’s why he decided to refurbish the looks of every single piece of trigger-equipped hardware laying around Mojave. Although the completion of his noble goal lies still far ahead, even as it is now his mod upgrades texture quality of most available firearms, making it a pleasure not just using them but simply looking at them.

How to install: Download the mod manually, extract the archive and copy its contents to: [game_folder]Data
Mojave Sandy Desert – true sand
Monochromatic, parched desert soil? Not if Mojave Sandy Desert can help it. The plugin adds a wide array of new textures, replacing not only the deserts as we know them but also the maps drawn on some types of terrain or the roadside. Never before have the wastelands of Nevada been so sandy, so tempting to go for a walk on and simply appreciate the landscape.

How to install: Download and enable using the Nexus Mod Manager.
Interior Lighting Overhaul – see indoors in a new light
There’s hardly place for mood with improper lighting – even the most charming locations can be ruined with unrealistic or overexposed lights. Interior Lighting Overhaul will provide the interiors of all the buildings with lighting that is properly balanced, toned down, and adjusted to their individual character, boosting immersion and contributing a well-thought-out harmony that is a joy to the eye.

Essential Visual Enhancements – general visual upgrades
Explosions, gunshots, and gushing blood – take that away and what’s left? Certainly not immersion and satisfaction. The creator of Essential Visual Enhancements wanted to reach new depths of the visual experience that accompanies combat with all kinds of lethal objects. Thus, he implemented new death animations, environmental effects of bullets and particles, as well as refurbished looks for explosions, gun- and laserfire. As the mod is constantly developed, we can expect further tweaks and improvements in the near future.

Fallout Character Overhaul – better-looking NPCs
Ghouls are not the only creatures in the Wasteland that could use some facelifting – faces of most NPCs were severely tested by the aged game engine that powers New Vegas. Fallout Character Overhaul was created specifically for them, as it changes facial features of not only NPCs but also the Courier’s companions… or even the Courier himself/herself. The plugin adds new, high-res textures, reduces angularity, provides better-looking eyes and teeth, and, last but not least, it doesn’t collide with any visual mods from the ENB Series.
Creator: Drumber
How to install: Download and enable using the Nexus Mod Manager. The mod has a built-in config app, which will allow you to pick from several variants of character and enemy appearances.
ATTENTION: The mod requires the Old World Blues expansion as well as the UIO mod to work properly.
Wasteland Flora Overhaul – better textures for vegetation
The Wasteland is, by definition, a desolate and harsh place, making any pleasant landscape elements a change not only welcome and worthy of attention but also – where possible – of embellishment. Here’s where Wasteland Flora Overhaul comes in to the fray, by increasing the number and variety of plants the Courier can stumble across. Furthermore, the plugin adds several new types of trees and bushes (around 80 new 3D models) and is available in two versions – the more austere ‘dead’ and the more vivid ‘fertile’. Realistic Wasteland Lighting – see the outdoors in a new light
If your choking on that dirty, brownish dust covering all of Mojave and your eyes have learned to differentiate between more than 50 shades of sepia – perhaps you should look at the Wasteland in a different light. Realistic Wasteland Light will deliver some fresh touch, making the post-apocalyptic landscapes a bit more pleasant to watch and (at least visually) free of radiation. The plugin increases color saturation and removes the ever-present “sandy” screen filter, with no repercussions for overall performance.

Project Reality – realistic landscapes
Project reality is a mod that puts gameplay immersion first and foremost. The plugin adds some new weather effects and revamps the visuals of those already present. Furthermore, it implements several sound effects to accompany different weather conditions, like sandstorms or downpours. It will also replace the color scheme of the Wasteland with a more consistent, cooler set of colors.

ATTENTION: The mod is not fully compatible with Nevada Skies.
Enhanced Shaders ENB – better shading
If you ever thought, when walking the New Vegas Strip, that your surroundings are bleak, unpolished, and generally lacking, you were dead on. One of many things it lacked was proper ambient occlusion, provided by the Enhanced Shaders preset, which focuses on adding the missing shade where it is due – in the corners, in the foliage, or under light sources. Enhanced Shaders’ strong point, however, lies in it unobtrusiveness – it leaves the original colors as they were.

How to install: Download manually and follow the instructions included in the section dedicated to ENB Mods.
Nevada Skies – realistic sky and weather effects
Be it rain, snow or blazing sun – the Wasteland has a hard time surprising you because, weather be as it may, everything remains basically the same. One way to counter such progressing indifference is the Nevada Skies mod, which provides a complete makeover of the sky and turns all weather conditions much more unpredictable, severe, and spectacular. After having installed the mod, more often than not you will find yourself entranced by the image of clouds racing on the sky, standing on a hill to watch the sun sink below the horizon, or, if an unexpected sandstorm comes down, hiding in the closest shelter with other NPCs to avoid death. Provided you find a shelter in the area.

ATTENTION: The mod is not fully compatible with Project Reality.
NMC’s Texture Pack – textures of high(est) resolution
The more details the better – especially when it comes to the details of the smallest elements of the environment. NMC’s Texture Pack revamps the looks of nearly all objects in the game by significantly increasing the resolution of textures covering them. From streets and pavements through cars and road signs to wallpapers – the seemingly boring Wasteland suddenly becomes a land of minuteness. The mod is available in three versions – large, medium, and small; the first one is recommended – to avoid stutters – only to the owners of GPUs possessing more than 4GB of RAM.

How to install: Download and enable using the Nexus Mod Manager. If, during the installation, the app asks you to overwrite existing files, choose “No to all”.

Blackout ENB – Repainting the Wasteland
Blackout ENB is one of the most popular presets, offering not only a different, more clean and toned-down visual quality, but also increasing the intensity of darkness ruling the Wasteland during night hours. The mod draws its popularity from the fact of being well-balanced and not overly exaggerated when it comes to colors, creating a very fresh and natural look. Additionally, the mod, once activated, doesn’t particularly affect the overall performance; unless you find yourself in the middle of an intense downpour.
